Rattlesnake Mountain Half Marathon

WHEN:  Sunday November 3rd at 8AM.  (There is an option for a one time early start at 7 AM for those that would like extra time. Early starters are exempt to overall awards) Also this is not just a run, we encourage those that would like to come hike and spread seeds too!

WHERE: Rattlesnake Mountain Preserve Trailhead

REGISTRATION: REGISTRATION COMING SHORTLY or pre-race registration will be starting at 7 AM at the Trailhead.

REASON: This event is the culmination of our BE CREATIVE WITH NATIVES WEEK which is a week of events to encourage all to focus more on Native Landscaping. This is a fundraiser for the Rattlesnake Slope Preserve. We will be scattering native wildflower seeds during the run. We appreciate all of your support in registration and in buying merchandise which all goes to keeping the cost low for this event and for the Preserve.

COST/MERCHANDISE:  $30 if Pre-Registered. Online registration closes Wednesday October 31st. $40 for Day of Race Registration.

Long Sleeve Sport Tek Racer Mesh shirts are $20 with pre-registration – the last day to pre-order shirts is Oct 16th.

There will be some extra shirts in limited sizes and quantities available for purchase the day of the race.  Plus there will be other Runners of the Sage apparel and Pint Glasses for sale.

AWARDS/PRIZES: All finishers will receive a medal. Awards for overall Top 3 Male and Female. The overall male and female winners will each receive $50. If anyone sets a new course record they will earn an additional $50. The current course record is 1:30:06 by Will Marquardt.

PARKING: Come early to grab a parking spot at the trailhead. Overflow parking will be on the shoulder of 225. This highway isn’t very busy but does have some traffic so be careful walking to the race start.

LODGING: Hampton Inn Richland

DESCRIPTION:  The run is a trail half marathon throughout the Rattlesnake Slope Preserve.  It showcases the beauty and openness of the Sagebrush Steppe of Southeastern Washington and will be roughly 1800 feet gain over the 13.1 miles. This is a challenging course so we recommend to bring your own water and fuel. However there will be aid stations at miles 2, 3, 6.5, 9 and 10 with limited fuel, because it has to all be hiked in.

Laliik CourseThis event is the culmination of our BE CREATIVE WITH NATIVES WEEK which is a week of events to encourage all to focus more on Native Landscaping. The run is a trail half marathon throughout the Rattlesnake Slope Preserve with aid stations at miles 2, 3, 6.5, 9 and 10. It showcases the beauty and openness of the Sagebrush Steppe of Southeastern Washington and will be roughly 1800 feet gain over the 13.1 miles. It is a fundraiser for the Rattlesnake Preserve and we will be handing out native seeds to scatter as you race. The cost is $20 (or more) upon donation. Proceeds go to help the Fish & Game & Wildlife in purchasing seeds for the preserve and bettering the trail system. This will be a fancy group run with race bibs, and awards for top 3 male and top 3 female overall finishers. Also this is not just a run, we encourage those that would like to come hik

REGISTRATION: There is no formal registration for this event this year, however if you do plan to run, or if you’d just like to come help spread Native Seeds around the Rattlesnake Slope area, please email Chris Albertson at chilealby7@hotmail.com so we can have a rough head count.

SHIRTS: As a fundraiser we will have different varieties of shirts for $5-$20 a piece. We will take cash or check made out to Runners of the Sage.

THEME: This year’s theme is the Western Yarrow which can be seen throughout the Sagebrush Steppe
